Cootharinga North Queensland

Cootharinga North Queensland is a progressive and person centred organisation with a strong presence across North Queensland.  For nearly 60 years Cootharinga has been delivering services in partnership with the community, businesses and the individuals we support.

Cootharinga provides accommodation and support services in Townsville, Cairns, Mackay and regions in between. Their Respite Service and Rehabilitation Technology Service are unique to North Queensland.  

Cootharinga employs 210 staff, with a strong focus on relevant staff training and development. Cootharinga also has an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Liaison Officer and Resource and Information Centre both located at Currajong.

We have recently expanded our services to include Early Intervention Services for children 0 to 7 with Autism and opened our Activity and Respite Centre last August to meet a vital need for respite for older parent carers in North Queensland.  We proactively work to achieve our vision of “Building a better world with people of all abilities.”
